Boutique community comes to life

Stage one of Woburn Apartments is now completed. In mid-February, the builders signed off and the first residents moved into their new homes later in the month.

One three-bedroom and several two-bedroom apartments are now available for immediate purchase. Most of the individual apartments overlook the Hutt River and many have direct external access to a deck or small patio. The kitchens and bathrooms are modern and spacious with high quality fittings.

The buildings are built in reinforced concrete and timber, with natural woodgrain adding character throughout.

Two storey-height windows and skylights bring natural light into communal areas and add to a sense of spaciousness. Stunning photo murals add character to the bar and the conservatory.

Manager Chris Wilson says he’s really impressed with the quality of the development.

“It is a wonderful location, in one of Greater Wellington’s most beautiful suburbs, close to amenities like the Huia Pool, The Dowse and Queensgate, and just 5 minutes’ drive to funky Jackson Street,” he says.

“Residents have access to two conservatories, a small library, a ‘men’s shed’, and a bar and lounge overlooking the Hutt River.”

When the 39 apartments in stage two are completed in early 2017, the full range of village amenities will be available, including a hairdressing and beauty salon, café and dining area, snooker room and an indoor bowls and games area.

On the first floor, serviced by lift and stairs, there will be a library, an IT and office suite, arts and craft room, theatre for movies and live entertainment, exercise room, gym, spa and sauna.

Next door is the highly regarded Woburn Masonic Rest Home & Hospital. Nurse call buttons from each apartment to the rest home provide a 24-hour emergency service.

“It is important to me to provide a service to residents that is professional, warm and relaxed, and to develop a strong positive culture,” says Wilson. “I’m really proud to be part of this development, as are the residents.”

Woburn Apartments are owned the Masonic Villages Trust, a charity set up in 1960 for the benefit of the whole community. It prides itself in providing great care and great communities.

In keeping with the values of Freemasonry, all people of goodwill – regardless of race, religion, nationality or personal beliefs – are welcome here.

The Trust has retirement communities and aged care facilities throughout the southern North Island. Any surpluses it generates are used to improve its services and facilities.
